W1: Introduction

Welcome to the vocabulary blog for Small Business Management, for Summer 2011. Each student should create her/his own vocab blog. The purpose of the vocab blog is to help each of you acquire the vocabulary knowledge of the selected key terms in each chapter. You are the key person responsible for vocab learning, and I am the facilitator helping you during the process of learning. We will spend one class time per week in a computer room to learn the selected key terms by online search. There are some guidelines telling you what to write in your vocab blog. You may want to include:
1. the part of speech and meaning of the word in the reading
2. the pronunciation of the word
3. make a sentence on your own including the meaning of the word in the reading  
4. any pictures, videos, and articles that can clearly explain the meaning of the word in the reading 
5. synonyms and/or antonyms 
6. any other meanings of the word and make a sentence of each meaning of the word

      
    After you finish writing your vocab blog, go to at least two other students' vocab blogs to comment on the following aspects:

1. Do they give correct information on the five points mentioned above?
2. Do they provide any pictures, videos, and articles that help me understand the meaning of the word?
3. Do they provide any synonyms and/or antonyms that help me understand the meaning of the word? 
4. Do they provide any other meanings of the word? 
If you find the information provided by your classmates is useful to you, add the useful information to your blog by creating another posts. Respond to those who leave comments on your blog, if need be. 



When writing your own blog, always keep the two things in mind:
1. Does the way I write my blog help me review vocabulary in the future?  
2. Does the way I write my blog help my classmates understand more about the words?


Since you have already known the purpose of creating your own vocab blog, let's take a look at how to create your own blog:
1. Create a blog specifically for this course, and post a link to it as a comment to this post as soon as you can. Please post under your nick name, and use the same one consistently throughout the course.
2. Choose and set up an aggregator to follow this blog and those of the other students, so you can be notified of updates on a single page.
