W5: Vocabulary blog

For today's class, we're going to learn five key terms in Ch5: Niche marketing, trademark, royalty fee, synergy, and franchising.

Here are the steps to follow:
Niche
1.      What is the pronunciation of niche?
2.      What does niche mean?
3.      Find an example of a corporation's niche market. (PS: You can start with looking into the sample corporation that you gave last week about business ethics.)

Trademark
1.      What does trademark mean?
2.      Find a trademark of a corporation.
3.      What do you think the trademark tells you about the characteristics of the corporation?
4.      Make a sentence of trademark.

Royalty fee
1.      What does royalty mean?
2.      What does royalty fee mean?
3.      Royalty and loyalty look similar. What does loyalty mean?
4.      What is the pronunciation of royalty and loyalty?
5.      Make a sentence of royalty fee.

Synergy
1.      What is the pronunciation of synergy?
2.      What does synergy mean?
3.      Find three synonyms of synergy.
4.      Make a sentence of synergy.

Franchising
1.      What is the pronunciation of franchising?
2.      Pay attention to the pronunciation in the online audio-dictionary. Compare your pronunciation with the pronunciation in the audio-dictionary. Are they the same or different?
3.      What is the verb of franchising? What does it mean?
4.      What does franchiser and franchisee mean?
5.      Make a sentence of franchising.

Respond to TWO students’ blogs.
You will respond based on the following rules:
1.      If your classmates leave a comment on your blog and ask for your help, please help them by answering their questions.
2.      Does the student answer all the questions above?
3.      If not, help her/him finish her/his vocab blog based on what you have already known.
4.      Check the definitions of the key terms. Are they similar to yours? If not, discuss with the student by leaving a comment on her/his blog and decide which definition is correct.

Before you leave:
1. Send the vocab self-evaluation form to me
2. Leave two comments based on the rules mentioned above. 
3. Respond to your fellow students' comments and revise your blog if need be. 

PS: If you haven't finished writing the blog, finish it by the end of Tuesday. If you haven't commented on two students' blogs, do it by the end of Wednesday. Students who do not finish writing the blog before the deadlines will be deducted one point from the FINAL GRAD.
